- Tasting Notes
A slightly more deeply pitched nose reveals a wide range of spice and floral elements along with notes of plum, dark currant and a whiff of wood. The sophisticated, intense and impressively concentrated medium-bodied flavors also brim with minerality that adds a touch of lift to the sappy, complex and strikingly persistent finish. This caressing effort is really quite lovely and I particularly like the balance.

The 2016 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Amoureuses was picked on 25 September and includes 30% whole bunch fruit, matured in 35% new oak. For an Amoureuses, it has an understated bouquet, clean and pure but maybe just missing the horsepower and the intensity of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite linear and tensile with just the right amount of salinity, though I would be seeking more precision toward the finish. While it is missing the panache of the 2015, it is a fine Amoureuses that should age with style.
