- Tasting Notes
Subtle but not invisible oak frames the notes of violet, rose petal, herbal tea, plum, cassis, tea and sandalwood aromas. There is once again outstanding volume and richness to the more mineral-driven broad-shouldered flavors that also possess impressive power on the firm, long and serious finale that delivers excellent length. There is a hint of dryness present but unlike the Echezeaux here it may very well age out with time though note well that that this is built for the very long-term.

(89-92) Healthy bright red. Aromas of candied red berries, clove and crushed rock are cooled by a minty element. Densely packed, but there’s something a bit peppery and dry to the mineral and spice flavors. Finishes rather unyielding, even raw, with granular tannins. Not a great showing today but still very unevolved; estate manager Christophe Chauvel noted that he’s always concerned about getting sufficient exchange with air during the fermentation, which takes place in a closed barrel.
