- Tasting Notes
An exceptionally ripe but not roasted or jammy nose is similar if more complex. The velvety, round and equally seductively textured big-bodied flavors possess a bit more overall size, weight and mid-palate concentration while delivering even better length on the powerful and built-to-age finish that, like the nose, is much more complex. Patience required however.

The 2015 Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru Clos des Maréchaudes, under the Domaine du Pavillon label, offers a mixture of black and blue fruit on the nose, quite forward and powerful, though it would benefit from a little more precision. The palate is medium-bodied with dense black fruit that feels earthy in style, gripping the inside of the mouth, hints of white pepper and spices making quite a mark towards the finish. Again, it is a “burly” take on the vintage with plenty of guts, though I would have liked to see more precision and finesse, especially in the second half.
