Description
Tasted blind at Farr Vintners’ 2006 horizontal, the 2006 Bahans-Haut-Brion has a fragrant earthy, woodland, almost autumnal bouquet that is well defined and fully mature. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin, lightweight perhaps but with a keen thread of acidity, attenuated slightly towards the finish. Drink sooner rather than later would be my advice.

Good deep red. Black raspberry, sassafras, road tar and spicy oak on the nose. Sweet berry fruit shows an almost liqueur-like creaminess, but a peppery element and good underlying minerality lend grip to the finish, which features a fine dusting of tannins and nice cedary persistence. An excellent second wine.

Light, with lots of tobacco and some berry fruit. Short. May be better with time. Best after 2011. 7,500 cases made.
