- Tasting Notes
Once again subtle but not invisible wood serves as a relatively neutral backdrop for the high-toned aromas of cool red currant, pomegranate, cherry and discreet earth nuances. There is a lovely sense of energy to the mineral-inflected and beautifully well-detailed medium weight flavors that deliver fine depth and length on the firm and mildly austere finale. Some patience will be required.

The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Clos de Fonteny, the monopole of the domaine, has an easy going bouquet with raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit – a bouquet reclining in its comfy armchair. The palate is well balanced and has more vigor. I like the purity here and the candied orange peel that give the finish that exotic touch, for those who prefer a more “daring” Gevrey. Drink and enjoy over the next 8-10 years.
