Christophe Perrot Minot Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru

- Tasting Notes
A densely fruited nose is classic Mazis as the sauvage component is front and center on the fresh earth and humus-inflected red and blue pinot fruit nose that complements the dense, serious and brooding broad-scaled flavors that benefit from the ample amounts of palate coating and staining dry extract as well as an impeccable well-balanced finish. There is a touch of backend rusticity as the supporting tannins are quite firm but overall, this is really a wine of harmony.
– Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Score: 92-95
Good deep red. Precise, high-pitched aromas of crushed blackberry, minerals, licorice and violet. Then sweet and fat with fruit but still a baby today; silky in texture but given shape by harmonious acidity. Really vibrates in the mouth. The rising, inexorable finish features a lightly peppery quality. Perrot-Minot emphasized that since 2007 he’s been doing much less pigeage than remontage, and only at the beginning of the fermentations, with the objective of making wines with more enrobed tannins.
