- Tasting Notes
This is quite fresh, pure and elegant with the airy and cool aromas of red currant, spice, underbrush and Gevrey style earth. There is a touch of the sauvage to the quite supple and round medium-bodied flavors that exhibit attractive hints of minerality on the delicious, vibrant, mouth coating and lingering finish. Good stuff for a villages level wine and I especially like the fine grained tannins.

The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin Villages from Claude Dugat reveals a complex bouquet of cassis, black cherry, bitter cocoa, warm spice and subtle grilled meatsthe prelude to an intense, full-bodied wine with a deep core of fruit and supple, ripe tannins, considerable incipient complexity and impressive authority through the long finish. The synergy between barrel and wine here is especially effective. Terrific stuff considering the vintage, and though this has considerable upside, it’s a comparatively accessible rendition of Dugat’s Gevrey village that will deliver a lot of pleasure in its youth.

Offers an essence of black cherry, with violet and black currant accents. Agile yet saturated with flavor, this has firm, well-integrated tannins. Just needs a little time.
