- Tasting Notes
Here the reduction is such that it’s enough to mute the fruit but not the panoply of spice notes that can also be found on the rich, supple and mineral-driven flavors that possess a supple mouth feel yet no lack of power, all wrapped in a focused, intense and gorgeously persistent finish. A classy effort built to age.

Bright dark ruby. Highly nuanced nose features blackberry, cassis, flowers, game and iron. Boasts the sexy sweetness of the vintage at its best, with superb saline depth and an utterly seamless texture. As thick on the finish as it is in the middle. Subtle, fine-grained tannins reach the incisors, and the floral, perfumed finishing flavors coat every square millimeter of the palate. The pH here was under 3.5, noted Boillot, adding that none of his pHs reached 3.5 in 2009. A great wine in the making, but I got the impression Boillot marginally prefers his Volnay Caillerets from his home village.
