- Tasting Notes
A cool, pure and wonderfully elegant nose offers up notes of spicy essence of red currant liqueur plus a trace of earth. There is a refined texture to the layered and concentrated middle weight flavors that possess that really lovely inner mouth perfume before culminating in a mineral-infused and beautifully long finish. While this may not be a true Chambolle villages given the origins of the fruit, it’s seriously impressive.

The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes is the first year that Christophe elected to blend the fruit from La Combe dOrveaux (so there is only the Cuvée Ultra henceforth). It has another perfumed, floral bouquet with crushed strawberry, Morello and smidgen of balsam entering the fray. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannins, a little more cohesion and substance than the Gevrey Village and finishing with commendable precision and reserve.
– Neal Martin, Robertparker.com, Score: 89-91
The 2013 Chambolle-Musigny Vieilles Vignes offers a gorgeous interplay of rich Chambolle fruit along with brighter aromatic notes and tension that are often found in the northern sector of the village, all backed up by silky tannins that confer finesse. The 2013 is mostly fruit from Les Bussières, along with three barrels that would have been the straight Combe d’Orveau Chambolle.
