- Tasting Notes
A distinct nose of animale suffuses the ripe red cherry and currant nose that leads to more concentrated and more complex flavors that also possess slightly better length on the dusty and lingering finish. I like the textured mouth feel as well as the subtle minerality that seems to provide lift to the finale.
– Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Score: 88
Bright red-ruby. Wild, reduced aromas of smoked meat, iron and leather. Fat, sweet and smoky, with a supple texture enlivened by underlying minerality. Finishes with broad, granular tannins and very good breadth.
– Stephen Tanzer, Vinous.com, Score: 86-89
Rotys 2007 Marsannay Boivin exhibits lightly-cooked and sweetly-ripe red raspberry and strawberry fruit along with smoky black tea and peppery accents, and a generous and satisfying, if simple, finish. It hasnt the freshness or spunk (nor the reduction) of a couple of its immediate Marsannay siblings, and I would plan to enjoy it within the next two years.
