The 2011 Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Les Hauts Doix has a pastille-like purity on the nose with darker fruit than the Charmes. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, supple tannins and lovely notes of dark cherry and bilberry toward the smoky, cassis-tinged finish. Very fine.

Medium red. Aroma of red berry confiture accented by pepper and spicy oak. Densely packed and creamy, showing a more harmonious texture today than the Charmes. Intense flavors of black cherry, licorice, menthol and spices linger nicely on the crunchy finish, which features sweet, building tannins. An element of whole-cluster fermentation has given this wine a crisp character.
