- Tasting Notes
A moderately reduced nose flattens the underlying fruit but there is no shortage of freshness or vibrancy to the rich, intense and notably powerful middle weight plus flavors that possess plenty of minerality on the tight, focused and linear finish. This is quite expansive on the mid-palate with fine concentration yet the saline-inflected finish is firmly wound and will need a few years to unwind. In a word, impressive.

Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Bouilland. The 2013 Chassagne Montrachet 1Er Cru les Caillerets has a sophisticated and tensile nose, shimmering citrus fruit, granite and smoke aromas, a little terse at first, it soon loses its aloofness and becomes very engaging. The palate is very well balanced with a silver bead of acidity that cuts through the lightly honeyed fruit. There is impressive focus here, likewise impressive length, completing this class act. It may warrant a higher score with further bottle age. Tasted May 2016.
