- Tasting Notes
Pronounced reduction renders the nose impossible to read. There is by contrast a lovely sense of freshness and good detail to the solidly concentrated and delicious flavors that possess better overall depth and length though note quite the same level of energy as the best of these 1ers in the range.
– Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Score: 88-91
The 2012 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gains is more laid back on the nose with lemon peel, limestone and faint smoke aromas that need a little encouragement. The palate is open and generous on the entry with notes of pear and citrus lemon, building gently toward a ripe orange zest-tinged finish, though it needs to muster more tension and persistency to really convince that it is top flight.
– Neal Martin, Robertparker.com, Score: 87-89
