- Tasting Notes
Other than being slightly riper the nose is quite similar to that of the straight Gevrey cuvee. By contrast, this is denser and more powerful with a bit more tannic scaffolding as well on the robust, mouth coating and impressively persistent finish where the rusticity is more pronounced. This is a first-rate villages and well-worth considering.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes seems to absorb the 100% new oak better than the Village Cru, those 72-year-old vines coping with the wood much better. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated black cherry and boysenberry fruit, a touch of citrus fruit and a dense, almost opaque finish that does not want to get to know you for several years.

Healthy red-ruby. Urgent, primary aromas of crushed blueberry, espresso and violet. Juicy, intense black and blue fruit flavors show sharp definition. A powerful village wine with a strong, long, chewy finish and excellent lift; the tannins reach the front teeth.
