- Tasting Notes
Mild reduction knocks down the nose though there is good freshness and energy to the suave yet beautifully well-detailed middle weight flavors that brim with both a fine minerality and ample amounts of dry extract that impart an impression of finesse even though there is excellent power on the balanced and highly persistent finish. This should be terrific in time.

This red is lush and palate-coating, spreading its black cherry, blackberry and violet flavors like jam on toast. Its dense tannins are buried, but present, boosting the structure as the fruit kicks in on the finish.

The 2009 Chapelle-Chambertin is beautifully layered with sweet raspberries, flowers, spices and licorice. This is a decidedly rich, racy Chapelle, yet at the same time there is an element of nervous energy that balances some of the wines more overt tendencies. Today my sense is that the Chapelle is starting to close down. A refined long finish is the last clue as to what awaits once the wine settles down in bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034.
